Watch out for the combination of solar power and charging stations for heavy duty electric trucks. Bakersfield, Ca.-based WattEV is planning — with grant funding help from the California Energy Commission and other participants — to build a solar powered charging facility for heavy trucks in Bakersfield. The solar-power charging station for heavy duty electric trucks will cost $10 million to build, and eventually will have 40 chargers with a final cost of $30 million. And it will be located within earshot of an Amazon fulfillment center and a Walmart distribution center, PV Magazine reports. Ironically, Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC) is headquartered in California, and specializes in both solar and EV Charging Stations. Could it be a perfect marriage for SIRC.

Who would have thought of a green energy combination of solar power and a specialized charging station for heavy duty electric trucks. Well, a company called WattEV did. It envisions a power station that can deliver a 30-minute charge to a heavy duty truck enabling it to travel as range of 320 miles.Ground breaking for the facility is expected in October with a two-year completion schedule.

With the California Energy Commission funding a grant of $5 million to fund a 12-electric truck charging station. That’s only for a start — the charging station is designed to grow to 40 charging stations and be under full electric truck management by 2030. And more charging stations are planned to charge Class 8, 80,000 lb. electric trucks at sites in San Bernardino and Gardena, Ca., where they are located to provide truck charging at the Port Of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach.

WattEV corporate says, “WattEV is speeding up the transition of U.S. trucking transport into zero emission faster than anyone could expect. We use a combination of business and technology innovation to create infrastructure and data driven workflow that provide truckers and fleet operators the lowest total cost of ownership. Our goal is to get 12,000 electric transport trucks on the road in California by the end of 2030, exceeding existing forecasts.” Everybody’s Talking About Electric Cars And EV Charging Stations, But How About The Emergence Of Solar Powered Charging Stations For Heavy Duty Electric Trucks; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. A September 2021 report by Fortune Business Insights projects the global electric vehicle EV Charging Station market — post COVID-19 — will reach $111.90 billion by 2028. This includes a $13.64 billion market in North America by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 24.61%. The Report asserts that rapid growth will rebound in 2021 as vaccines become more prevalent. EV electric cars are important to companies such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC) because they are active in the EV Charging Station sector, through its ownership of PLEMco., and want the electric car population to keep growing. But the combination of solar-powered charging stations for electric heavy duty Class 8, 80,000 lb. trucks is irresistible because it is in SIRC’s sweet spot. The solar-power charging station for heavy duty electric trucks is a new business model in the green energy space. Meanwhile, other large OEM electric vehicle companies — such as General Motors (NYSE: GM), Ford (NYSE: F), Rivian and other OEM electric car companies, see opportunity in the EV Charging Station sector. Leader Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) seek more support for EV Charging Stations that support their current and future vehicle fleets. This charger design is especially for electric heavy duty trucks — located near Ports, distribution and fulfillment centers. The new wrinkle is solar power — a sector in which SIRC is a leading provider.  The solar-power charging station for heavy duty electric trucks is a funded concept business model that works.

In its most recent financial filing, SIRC reported more record growth — this time some $25 million in its Q2, the three months ended August 31, 2021. That number, the company said, is unaudited and preliminary. But it also fails to include a full quarter at scale of two major SIRC acquisitions — Future Home Power (FHP) and USA Solar Network. This is because their acquisitions were completed after Q2 already started, the company said.
