A Stanford University Professor’s analysis concludes that the US can get to 100% clean energy by 2050 with a four-hour battery vital in his calculations.  Mark Jacobson published his findings in scientific journal Renewable Energy. If true, it is positive news for proponents of alternative energy in solar and roofing such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC).

Key to the findings are the ability of four-hour storage batteries to take excess energy generated by alternative energy sources — such as solar, wind and water — to meet 2050 deadlines for 100% of US energy power.

Jacobson and his colleagues at Stanford told CNBC that it is possible to transition to a fully renewable system without any blackouts or batteries with ultra-long-duration battery technology.

He found that four-hour batteries can obtain more than four hours of charge when stacked to discharge sequentially. The batteries can be even used simultaneously.

Jacobson adds that four hour batteries can generate grid stability. “And I figured,” Jacobson tells CNBC. “Oh, my God, this is so basic. So obvious. I can’t believe nobody has figured this out.”  Stanford University Professor Says Solar, Wind And Water Energy Can Meet 100% Energy Needs For US By 2050; Using Four Hour Batteries; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. In his paper published in Renewable Energy, Jacobson describes the national transition to clean energy and what it would take to stabilize the grid in 2050-2051. The paper talks about wind, solar and water energy and how the nation can reach 100% alternative energy independence.

“While the changes occurring so far are encouraging, they are not enough. Experts believe the world needs to transition all energy by 2035 to eliminate the seven million air pollution deaths that occur each year and to minimize climate damage,” Jacobson concludes.

The published paper finds that the application of solar, wind and water alternative energy would generate substantial job growth. The results indicate a 100% transition would result in 4.7 million more jobs. They would be long term, full-time jobs among the almost all US states and Washington, DC. Only four states would experience job losses, the paper finds. Those would be in the areas of mining, fossil fuels, uranium, bio-energy and in the manufacturing of appliances that use combustion fuels.

The US Energy Department estimates that 40% of all US electricity could be generated by solar in 2030. The result could also be 1.5 million more jobs. So the stakes are high.

Solar installers like SIRC want to see the industry grew nationally. As SIRC builds a nationwide brand it seeks an exchange up list to the OTCQB.

To Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC), this paper’s projected results would be a boon to alternative energy. SIRC is halfway home. President Biden has signed the passed the $1 trillion Infrastructure bill into law. It includes  $7.5 billion for electric vehicles and grants to propel building of more EV Charging Stations. Through its subsidiary PLEMCo., SIRC is in the EV Charging Station business and hopes to grow with more acquisitions in this space.

But the BBB bill is not in an ideal position. It encompasses extended tax credits for solar installations and funding for solar initiatives, but may be too costly and politically sensitive to pass. Its fate will be decided in 2022.  Stanford University Professor Says Solar, Wind And Water Energy Can Meet 100% Energy Needs For US By 2050 Using Four Hour Batteries; Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. Solar installers, such as Solar Integrated Roofing Corp. (OTC PINK: SIRC), are awaiting final approval of the pro-solar $1.75 trillion ‘Build Back Better’ bill. Its final form could call for less funding. But it is still in Congressional negotiations. BBB now calls for perks for solar buyers — such as an extension of federal tax credits for as long as 10 years. Its final form could change.

BBB includes $320 billion for clean energy initiatives via tax credits. It would mark the biggest spending program on climate investment in U.S. history.

As part of an eco-system alternative energy spending package, Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ bill is a massive social spending bill. It also allocates funding support for solar, wind and other alternative energy sectors.

For SIRC and other solar installation firms, the solar tax incentives proposed would enable them to close sales on more solar installations. But the final form of the final bill remains unknown right now.
