As the cannabis industry in the U.S. becomes legalized state-by-state and is increasingly regulated, packaging rules are being instituted and enforced. The Packaging Summit 2020 will be held February 11-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center with a comprehensive list of speakers, exhibitors, and specific presentations on cannabis packaging specifications.

Cannabis Packaging Summit

The National Cannabis Industry Association will headline the event at the cannabis packaging summit. This is an industry in its formative stages now conforming to newly made state by state regulations. Each state has its own definition of regulations for the growing, processing and retailing of adult use recreational cannabis.

The cannabis packaging summit is being held in recognition of new regulations by state of the cannabis packaging itself. It is being held in California, the nation’s largest state for CBD and cannabis sales. It brings the industry together for defined analysis of where the cannabis packaging is and where it will be in the future.

New York Cannabis Packaging

The Cannabis Packaging Summit recognizes that suppliers, packagers, retailers, processors and other interested parties will benefit from a snapshot of where the U.S. by state on cannabis packaging regulations. What is legal in one state, is not in another.

For example, in New York State a new proposal by Governor Cuomo seeks to legalize adult use recreational cannabis, specifying new licenses, taxes, special use agreements and virtually every type of cannabis activity within the state.  The proposed legislation also requires that marketers and suppliers meet requirements on packaging, such as listing in consumables serving size, cannabis content and origin of cannabis. As it will be proposed, the new law will have additional mandates for what information should be available for cannabis consumers.

Packaging Speakers

At the cannabis packaging summit in California attendees will receive a presentation on global packaging requirements for cannabis, not just in the U.S. An increasing number of cannabis marketers are international and need to know how the rules are changing.

Legal teams will also provide a comprehensive overview of cannabis legalization throughout the nation state by state. The presentations will also address cannabis packaging and the law and how cannabis in food is being regulated by the FDA. The cannabis packaging summit will be a how-to for suppliers and retailers and provide a roadmap for packaging firms, too, on where regulation of packaging is headed.

Cannabis Brand Building

Another aspect of the cannabis packaging summit will be a tutorial on how a package can assist in building a brand. Several of the larger, multi-state cannabis companies off professionally-designed lines which consistency in logos, multi colors for each product and continuity for consumers to identify and create brand loyalty. How to achieve this in new ways will be a presentation subject at the convention.

Other presentations at the cannabis packaging summit will deal with child-related issues and food safety. Specifically, the presentations will be tailored to the needs of the cannabis industry and future regulations by state.

As the cannabis industry faces the new regulations and legalization by state, more media are paying attention to cannabis stocks.
